The University of Pittsburgh Executive Board

Co-President | Cynthia Kumaran
Hi! My name is Cynthia Kumaran, and I’m this year’s co-president for Asha at Pitt. I’m a senior neuroscience major with a minor in chemistry and certificates in conceptual foundations of medicine and global health. I have been involved in Asha since my freshman year, and served as the outreach chair for two years and business manager last year. As Co-President, I will work to ensure our fundraising goals are met and upcoming events are organized! I chose to be involved in Asha because I was drawn to its purpose. As an Indian-American, I’ve seen what the lack of education equality can look like in India firsthand. My goal is to make at least a small difference in a few childrens’ lives, whether through volunteering or fundraising. Pitt’s chapter of Asha is filled with the most compassionate and hardworking people who make working towards this goal possible!

Co-President | Meghana Sahasrabuddhe
Hello! My name is Meghana Sahasrabuddhe and I am a senior studying biology with a minor in statistics and chemistry. This will be my fourth year being involved in Asha at Pitt. I have been PR chair and Secretary in past years and am now taking on the role and responsibilities of Co-President. As Co-President I help facilitate meetings, as well as plan, coordinate, and organize events for the club! I decided to get involved in Asha because I believe that every child deserves access to a proper education. Education is a vital factor to life as it provides the potential to help reduce the economic and social issues present in India. I am fortunate to have access to a proper education, so I want to put my efforts towards helping those who lack these opportunities.
